Emacsvox grows from Emacspeak, created by T. V. Raman. Raman is the principal original author of the inherited system, and Emacsvox preserves his authorship and copyright notices throughout the source where that work remains.
The Emacsvox documentation began with the second-edition Emacspeak user manual. Jim Van Zandt and Jason White contributed to that manual. Selected historical chapters remain available in the separate Emacspeak Heritage in Emacspeak Heritage manual, where their original terminology and period context can be read without confusing them with current setup guidance.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed code, documentation, testing, problem reports, and practical experience to Emacspeak and Emacsvox. The current Emacsvox contributors continue that work while maintaining the user guidance and generated reference in this repository.
