A single accessible workbench presents logical voices, physical inventory, engines, and portable style/effect information. Transactional previews use the same sample text without changing saved palettes or routing profiles.
Prefer ENGINE-ID globally while preserving explicit voice routes. By default the change lasts for this Emacs session. With prefix argument SAVE, atomically save it in the active routing profile. Remaining engines keep their relative order; explicit logical-voice routes and fallback policy are unchanged. The command does not stop speech already playing. (fn ENGINE-ID &optional SAVE)
