User interface to tables
Open a file containing table data and display it in table mode. emacsvox table mode is designed to let you browse tabular data using all the power of the two-dimensional spatial layout while giving you sufficient contextual information. The etc/tables subdirectory of the emacsvox distribution contains some sample tables –these are the CalTrain schedules. Execute command ‘describe-mode’ bound to C-h m in a buffer that is in emacsvox table mode to read the documentation on the table browser. (fn FILENAME)
Major mode for browsing tables. Table mode is designed to allow speech users to browse tabular data with full contextual feedback while retaining all the power of the two-dimensional spatial layout of tables. Up/Down and Control-Meta-Up/Down move by logical row and speak the whole row. Control-Meta-Left/Right and TAB/Shift-TAB move by cell. Plain Left/Right and C-b/C-f move by character. RET or SPC reads the cell; r reads the row and c reads the column. Use . for coordinates and = for dimensions. The first row supplies column titles. Use w or k k to copy a cell, k r to copy a row, k c to copy a column, and K to copy the whole table to the table clipboard. Use a to change titles and data order with the shared reader preferences. Search with s, R (row), C (column), or h (headers). Use # to sort on the current column, M-< and M-> for the top and bottom, and j to jump to zero-based model coordinates. q closes the view. Row and column filters remain on f and g; a prefix argument requests a new filter. Filters use zero-based model indexes, including the header row. For example, (1 2 3) reads those three columns in a row filter. Strings in the list add labels. M-l and M-s load and save filters. Paste the emacsvox table clipboard into the current buffer. Use the major mode of this buffer to decide what kind of table markup to use.
Search the table for matching elements. Interactively prompts for row or column to search and pattern to look for. If there is a match, makes the matching cell current. When called from a program, ‘what’ can be either ‘row’ or ‘column’. (fn &optional WHAT)
Move COUNT cells right and read the entire cell. (fn &optional COUNT)
Move COUNT logical rows down and read the entire row. (fn &optional COUNT)
Move COUNT cells left and read the entire cell. (fn &optional COUNT)
Move COUNT logical rows up and read the entire row. (fn &optional COUNT)
