8.10.4 Change A Blank-Line Tone

This changes a tone actually present in recorded feedback, not every visually blank line regardless of its presentation.

  1. Navigate onto a blank line and open C-e H f h. Select its record, press C, and choose a part if necessary.
  2. Press c, Change a tone, select the tone, and choose Pitch and duration. Try 500 Hertz and 80 milliseconds. If it originally lay between other components, choose Before the other feedback when asked about placement. Review that movement in the summary as well as pitch/duration.
  3. Compare O~/~P. Other content should remain. A named tone can be selected instead of numeric values.
  4. Review criteria with m, choose session lifetime with l, then a. Visit another matching blank line to hear the live result.
  5. Disable/delete the session rule through C-e H r o to restore the earlier behaviour. It also expires when Emacs exits.

If the record contains a sampled cue, Change a tone is unavailable. Explain it, then suppress that cue and add a tone with separate rules if appropriate; remove both to restore. If no record exists, check the history limit and repeat the action. The interface cannot infer a missing component from appearance.
