Rules request cues by semantic name. Sound packs map names to audio assets and can inherit missing cues. This lets you change the sound of a family of cues without rewriting rules. For one event, use its feedback rule instead.
To enable or disable earcons in the captured buffer, use C-e H r l e. In that submenu, E changes the global default for buffers without a local override; i removes the source buffer’s override so it follows that default. Speech remains available when earcons are off, but menu cues also disappear where the off setting applies. These switches last for the session or buffer and have no Customize Save action. Toggle again or restore inheritance to reverse an experiment.
C-e H o p opens Sound Packs. Its q returns to Sounds and output with the same settings scope, and another q returns to the main menu. Directly opened browsers keep their usual returns.

Validate resources and report missing/invalid entries.

Spatial requests describe placement portably, not a particular device. C-e H D s reports capabilities and fallbacks; C-e H o n controls output, separation, direction, speech, and cues. Unsupported or mono output retains audible content at the centre. Named tones are separate compact resources, independent of sampled files and the active pack.
For waveform, pitch sweep and envelope adjustments, use the complete spelling tone editor. It currently edits the global spelling cue. Line cues, capitalisation beeps and indentation keep the controls and saving rules described in their own sections; they do not yet use that draft editor.
