A heading, an unread message, and a warning need not sound alike. Aural Presentation lets Emacsvox express those differences through speech, voices, short sounds, tones, pauses, and spatial cues. The application identifies what happened; presentation rules choose the feedback. The speech server then produces it with the voices and output capabilities on your machine.
Return to the item whose feedback you want to understand and leave point on it. Press C-e E to explain that item, C-e H for the settings menu, or C-e S for the current task’s focused settings where available. The workflows below use these inspection and editing tools rather than hand-edited configuration files. Read the key instructions explains how to enter the sequences.
Choose the change you need helps you pick the right tool. To listen without making changes, start with the voice-preview exercise.
