Open Aural Home from an ordinary buffer with C-e H. Emacsvox remembers that source buffer so contextual actions such as explanation and remapping can operate on the object you were using.
Aural Home is a spoken table. Each row names an area, reports its current status, and describes its purpose. The common controls are:
Move by row and speak the new row.
Move among the titled columns.
Speak the current column title and value.
Speak the complete current row.
Open or perform the current row’s main action.
Display and speak help for the current Aural interface.
Return to Aural Home from a manager or editor.
Leave the current Aural interface.
The rows fall into a few practical groups:
| Goal | Aural Home routes |
| Understand feedback | Explain At Point, Recent Aural Feedback, Semantic Vocabulary, and Training Mode. |
| Change one behavior | Remap Voice At Point, Remap Earcon At Point, Presentation Overrides, and Current Buffer Rules. |
| Select broader behavior | Presentation Options and Presentation Profiles. |
| Adjust resources | Voice Palettes, Voice Workbench, Sound Packs, Spatial Capabilities, and Spatial Settings. |
| Diagnose the system | Aural Doctor. |
You can press RET on a row without memorizing its shortcut. Aural Home also provides direct keys for frequent routes, including x for explanation, O for overrides, H for recent feedback, P for profiles, V for voice palettes, W for Voice Workbench, and D for Aural Doctor.
