4.9 Finish and choose your next task

Finish any practice draft in its editor, close menus, restore the punctuation policy, and restore the original palette if you deliberately activated another. Keep saved work separate from unsaved practice when choosing what to remove.

To discard the text exercises, use C-x k on each tutorial buffer after checking its name. To keep your own text instead, use C-x C-w and choose an unused file in your personal documents directory. Review any overwrite prompt and cancel rather than replacing an existing file. Saving text does not save voice settings, and saving a palette does not save the practice document.

A saved tutorial palette can remain inactive. To remove it later, use the palette manager’s deletion action only on the unused personal palette you created, after finishing its drafts and checking known references. Do not remove a built-in palette or other saved work as part of tutorial cleanup.

You can now read a location twice without moving, recover a small edit, visit Help without abandoning work, distinguish a document’s structure from its text, and tell a temporary setting from a preview or a saved resource. Find a task is the quickest route to a specific goal. Basic Usage and Audio Desktop provide the everyday reference, while Aural Presentation explains rules, palettes, voices, and saved setups in depth. The application guides then apply these habits to mail, terminals, and agents.
