16.4 Keep, inspect, or reverse settings
¶
Make a setting survive restarting Emacs
: identify which resource owns the setting and use its own saving or startup action.
Understand why Save did not change what I hear
: inspect the saved voice, its selected palette and the result of application before editing again.
Resume an unfinished edit
: use the retained-draft route to return to the original editor. A retained draft is not a saved setup.
Find out why an item sounded that way
: inspect the chosen voices, cues, and rules; distinguish recorded feedback from a simulation.
Undo a temporary feedback change
: the heading exercise includes checking its scope and removing the practice rule. For broader problems, use
presentation recovery
.
Adjust notifications without changing ordinary reading
: choose where notifications play and distinguish selecting a route from restarting it.
Output volumes
controls loudness separately.
